We strongly condemn any attacks against the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and humanitarian workers, whose sole mission is to save lives and alleviate human suffering.
May the soul of Mr. Latifi rest in peace, and may his family, colleagues, and your entire team find strength and courage to continue their noble humanitarian work.
With highest regards and solidarity,” Younis Al-Khatib, President of the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), wrote in a message.
María del Mar Pageo, president of the Spanish Red Cross, expressed deepest condolences to Latifi’s family, his colleagues, and the IRCS members, wishing a swift recovery for those injured.
The Italian Red Cross Society, in a letter signed by Rosario Maria Gianluca Valastro, voiced solidarity with the IRCS, highlighting that the red cross and crescent staff, equipment, and centers should be respected and protected.
Director of International Cooperation Division of the German Red Cross (GRC), Christof Johnen, conveyed condolences for the loss of the IRCS staff member.
“Mr. Ali Latifi’s dedication reflected the core values of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, marked by a profound sense of duty and service to people in need. We have also received with deep concern the reports of the wounding of five additional staff members. Despite these tragic circumstances, the actions undertaken by the Iranian Red Crescent Society demonstrate professionalism, resolve, and a clear focus on reaching affected communities without delay.
We therefore extend our sympathy to your teams and volunteers as they continue to operate in a complex and demanding environment. Please be assured of the German Red Cross’s continued solidarity.”
Previously, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) expressed condolences.
